Made from tinder fungus — Fomes fomentarius — this bookmark begins its story on mature beech trees in Transylvania. Warm to the touch. Naturally textured. No two pieces are exactly alike.

Tinder fungus — Fomes fomentarius — is the natural material at the heart of this unusual craft.
From forest to object
Nature, transformed by hand.
The process begins in the mountains. Suitable fungi are gathered, then cleaned, dried, processed and softened before the material can be shaped by hand.
Each stage requires time, experience and an intimate knowledge of the material.

Knowing how to prepare and soften tinder fungus is learned through practice and passed between generations.
For Wonders of Romania, preserving this knowledge matters as much as the finished object.
